Track Season Starts Season On Right Foot

Gainesville, FL. - Track season at Florida Atlantic University is underway as the team completed its first meet of the season at the Florida Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Florida. The Owls placed in the top ten in four events.

Freshman Raynell Hagberg, a three-time Atlantic Sun Runner-of-the-Week for cross country, finished fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:16.99, a mere five seconds behind the winner. Junior Claudia Beitel placed ninth in the one mile run with a time of 5:18.83, 18 seconds behind the leader. The 4x800m relay, comprised of Hagberg, Beitel, Kathryn Murnane and Abby Moore finished 20 seconds behind the leader for a fourth place finish. Finally, senior Katrina Lindsay placed seventh overall in the pole vault with a vault of 3.00 meters.
