![]() Owls Take Three Sun Belt Performer of the Week Honors
Nov. 16, 2005 Florida Atlantic University took three of four Performer of the Week honors this week in the Sun Belt Conference. The team swept diver honors as Nick McMahon and Lauren Harvath both won their first honors of the season. Sophomore Kevin Bartell was named Swimmer of the Week after an outstanding performance at the University of Florida. Last Friday in a meet against no. 5 Florida, Bartell (Bakersfield, CA) won the 100 breaststroke in 57.57. He returned to the pool to set a lifetime best in the 100 fly in 50.45 against the Gators. With a score of 268.42 on the one-meter board, freshman Lauren Harvath (Manchester, MO) qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones. Also in Saturday's meet against Indian River Community College, Harvath posted a score of 268.12 in the three-meter event for second place. Nick McMahon (Cincinnati, OH) had an exceptional day at IRCC as well. The sophomore posted scores of 284.10 and 284.70 in the one and three-meter events, respectively. The Owls swim at the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend. The three-day event features FAU, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Western Kentucky on the men's side, while FAU, Florida State, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Tech, the University of Miami and Rice will compete on the women's side.
