FAU Prepares for Dual Event with Princeton

Oct. 31, 2007

BOCA RATON, FL - After a successful weekend at Florida Gulf Coast University, the Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving teams will host Princeton University for a dual meet this Friday.

The FAU men are looking to sustain momentum from Saturday's victory over Tampa (200.50-79.50), while the FAU women split the weekend with wins over FGCU (190.00-110.00) and Tampa (249.00-44.00) in addition to a hard-fought defeat at the hands of Georgia Tech (182.00-118.00).

Matt Moran led the men to wins in three events, including the top spot in the 200 free relay. The freshman anchored a team time of 1:27.69, along with Andrew DiGiacomo, Danny Claude and Keith Coghlan. Moran also claimed the 50 free (21.68) and 100 free (47.26) in pacing the FAU attack in the sprints.

Miguel Dorante (100 breast, 200 breast), Weston Hayes (1m Dive, 3m Dive), David Rudolf (100 back, 100 fly) and Michael Shimansky (1000 free, 500 free) all took two events each in the team's convincing victory over the Spartans.

Jennifer Forcht turned in solid performances in the sprints for the women, leading a top-three FAU sweep in the 50 free (24.35) and finishing third in both the 100 free (53.44) and 100 fly (58.84).

Bianca Murphy placed second in three events - the 200 free (1:54.54), the 50 free (24.39) and the 100 free (52.08). Jessica Lampkin added to the Owls' success in the sprints with a second-place finish in the 100 fly (57.73) and a third-place finish in the 50 free (24.69).

Friday's dual meet with Princeton begins at 2 p.m. at FAU Pool. Admission is free for all fans and open to the general public.
