Four Swimmers Named to Sun Belt All-Time Team

The Sun Belt Conference announced its All-Time Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams on Wednesday as the conference celebrates its 30th anniversary. . Four Florida Atlantic University swimmers were named to the team after joining the league in 2004.

Eren Onurlu and Kevin Bartell (Bakersfield, CA) made the list of 15 men as both were members of the 200 medley relay team to break the FAU and Sun Belt Conference records in 2004 with a time of 1:30.24.

Also a member of the 200 free relay that set the conference record, Onurlu (Istanbul, Turkey) guided the team to a record time of 1:22.44. In the individual events, he took third in the 100 free in 46.08 and fourth in the 50 free with a time of 20.74.

In his freshman year, Bartell placed second in the 100 breast after breaking the pool record in the preliminaries with a time of 56.04. He also advanced to the finals of the 400 IM and finished sixth with a time of 1:54.58.

With wins at the 2005 Sun Belt Championships in the 500 free and 1650 free, Geni Burts (Pembroke Pines, FL) earned recognition on the Sun Belt Team. Burts completed the events in 4:55.32 and 16:57.97, respectively. In the 400 IM she broke the pool record (4:22.69) in the preliminaries and finished second in the finals .04 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

In the 1650 free, Jenny Harms (Fort Myers, FL) finished second behind Burts in 2005. The freshman also advanced to the finals of the 500 free and placed third with a time of 4:59.13 to earn recognition on the All-Time Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams.
