Swimming Closes Out Regular Season on Saturday

Florida Atlantic University will host its final swim meet this Saturday at FAU Pool. The Owls will face the University of Miami at 11 am in Boca Raton, FL.

The team will use the meet to prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championships that will be held on February 17-29 in Little Rock, AR. The meet will be the first Sun Belt event that FAU will participate in.

Kenny Anderson leads the conference in the 100 fly with a time of 59.71, while Eren Onurlu has two top-five times in the 50 free (20.97) and 100 free (46.15).

Seniors Adams Zeibig and Rich Marzonie led the team in the 200 fly (1:54.11) and 100 back (52.61) with fourth place conference times in the respective events.

Geni Burts (Pembroke Pines, FL) leads the women's team with top SBC times in the 500 free (4:56.71), 1000 free (10:19.23) and 400 IM (4:24.58). Her times in the 200 free (1:53.02) and 200 IM (2:07.09) rank her second in the league.

Senior captain Valeria Dalmastro posted a time of 24.06 in the 50 free to lead the conference while Ellie Weberg holds down second in the 100 and 200 breast with times of 1:05.56 and 2:20.51, respectively.

Freshman Shawna Griffith will get a chance to swim the 200 fly at the Sun Belt Championships with the second fastest time in the event with a time of 2:03.59.

The team will participate in its first Sun Belt Conference Championships on February 17-19 in Little Rock, AR.
