Swimming and Diving Hosts FIU and IRCC

The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host Sun Belt Conference rival Florida International and Indian River Community College this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Boca Raton.

The FAU women's team is currently ranked eighth by CollegeSwimming.com in the Division I Mid-Major Poll and has several top performers in the conference. Senior Lauren Shue (Fort Myers, FL) holds the top time in the 200 free (1:51.86), 500 free (4:53.43) and 1650 free (16:42.33). Her times in the 500 and 1650 are NCAA `B' cut times with her 1650 free time setting the Sun Belt Conference season record.

Lindsey Alexander (Fort Myers, FL) holds the top time in the 200 IM (2:05.04), while Stephanie DeRito (Apollo Beach, FL) posted the fastest time in the conference in the 100 free by touching the wall in 51.18.

Two freshmen, Matt Moran (Daytona Beach, FL) and Michael Shimansky (Gainesville, FL) are listed in the top-10 in the conference on the men's side. Moran holds the seventh fastest times in the 50 free (21.11) and 100 free (46.20), while Shimansky touched the wall in 9:39.10 in the 1000 free for the third fastest time in the SBC.

The Golden Panthers are led by Sara Giovannoni who has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.68.
