Swimming Finishes Fifth and Seventh at Minnesota Invitational

Nov. 24, 2002

In the final day of competition at the Minnesota Invitational, Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's swimming teams finished fifth and seventh in the 14 team field, respectively. Scott Hobson picked up 15 points for the Owls when he placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke.

Hobson, a junior from South Africa, swam the 200 back in a time of 1:49.92 for a fourth place finish. With that time, Hobson set a season-best time by more than a second.

Travis Howard earned eighth place in the 200-yard breaststroke touching the wall in 2:09.08 for the men.

The women's team used a second place finish by Lisa Andersson in the 100-yard freestyle and a third place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to finish seventh ahead of Miami, Tennessee and Auburn. Andersson completed the 100 free in 51.67, while Boguslawa Bedyk, Emma Petersson, Jacqueline Beitel and Lisa Andersson finished the 400 free relay in 3:29.61, the fastest time this season.
