Swimming Dominates Pool

Final Stats

The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim teams put on quite a show at the University of Miami as they took on the Hurricanes and the University of Tampa at the Norman Whitten Student Union Pool. The men took home 13 first place finishes to win the meet.

Lisa Andersson continues to lead the women's team as she took part in each of the Lady Owls' three victories. Individually, the junior transfer from Jonstorp Sweden, won the 500 and 1000-yard freestyle in times of 5:06.72 ad 10:28.80. Andrea Van Der Plaats followed in the 1000 free with a second place time of 10:31.37.

Andersson teamed with Boguslawa Bedyk, Jacqueline Beitel and Valeria Dalmastro to win the 200-yard freestyle in 1:37.63. They narrowly edged out Miami who touched the wall in 1:37.87.
 

 

Besides winning the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.18) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.03) the men's team picked up 11 individual first place finishes. Adam Zeibig and Robert Langsett both earned three wins.

Zeibig picked up victories in the 1000 free (9:56.31) before touching the wall in 1:54.56 in the 200 fly and 52.51 in the 100 fly. Langsett won the 200 (1:45.31) and 500 free (4:48.53) and the 200 IM (1:58.12).

Rich Marzonie picked up the win in the 100-yard backstroke (52.52), 1 ½ seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Antony Hine won the100 and 200 breaststroke in 57.87 and 2:07.77 respectively. In the 50-yard freestyle sophomore Pavel Babaev touched the wall in 21.90 while Brent McCarthy won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.62.

The teams have next weekend off before the women host the University of Minnesota on November 2 at 1 pm.
