Kevin Bartell Swims a 54.05 at the NCAA Championships

March 24, 2006

In his first NCAA Championship, Florida Atlantic University swimmer Kevin Bartell took 12th place in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center on Friday evening. The sophomore from Bakersfield, CA touched the wall in 54.05.

In the preliminaries, Bartell swam a 54.16. He swam the first 50 yards in 24.63 which was the fastest in the event. He moved up from 16th place with his swim in the finals, but was not able to break his school record of 54.01 which he set at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.

Bartell's swim completes the season for the FAU swimming and diving teams. Ellie Weberg took two fourth place finishes at the NCAA Championships last weekend for the women.
