Weberg Adds Another Fourth Place Finish

March 18, 2006

Ellie Weberg picked up her second fourth-place finish at the NCAA National Championships with a time of 2:11.43 in the 200-yard breaststroke in the final day of competition. The Florida Atlantic University junior bettered her school record by almost two seconds.

After the morning preliminaries, Weberg stood in sixth place but guaranteed herself a spot in the championship finals. In the finals she swam more than one second faster to move up two spots to earn fourth.

In Friday's competition, Weberg also finished fourth in the 100 breast and returned Saturday for the 200 breast with the same result. With her finish, the Bloomington, MN native earns All-American honors.

The women's swimming and diving NCAA Championships were hosted by the University of Georgia. The men's championships will be held Mar. 23-25 at Georgia Tech University. Kevin Bartell will represent the Owls and will compete in the 100-yard breaststroke.
