Swimming Completes Day Three at NIC Championships

Final Stats

In the third day of competition at the National Independent Conference Championships, freshman Ellie Weberg set an NIC, pool and school record in the 100 breaststroke with a 'B' cut time of 1:027.70. She broke her previous school record of 1:03.16 that she set earlier this season. Overall, the women's team fell to third in the standings, while the men remain in fifth.

Another freshman, Geni Burts finished second in the 400 IM to open the afternoon session. She touched the wall in 4:25.18 just .72 seconds behind the winner Emily Simon of Northern Arizona.

Finishing second in the 200-yard freestyle was senior Lisa Andersson. She swam a season-best time of 1:50.84 to finish one second behind Gardner-Webb's Terra Wilson with a 'B' cut time.
 

 

Scott Hobson and Rich Marzonie finished fifth and sixth in the 100 backstroke to pick up 27 points for the FAU men.

The women's relays continue to swim strong as they broke a school record in the 400-yard medley relay. Kelly Pancake, Ellie Weberg, Emma Petersson and Lisa Andersson touched the wall in 3:45.43 to finish second behind Oakland University's relay with a time of 3:45.10.
