Swimming Honors Seniors with Win

At the FAU Winter Invite, Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's swim teams won 22 combined events to sweep dual meets against College of Charleston, Transylvania, Pennsylvania and Illinois State. Seniors, Kenny Anderson, Pavel Babaev and Mary Milburn were honored in the final home meet of the season for FAU. Eren Onurlu, David Parker, Christian Baker, Bianca Murphy and Lindsey Alexander all won multiple events for the Owls. Sweeping the sprint events, Onurlu posted times of 21.81 and 47.72 in the 50 and 100 free, respectively. Murphy won the 100 and 200 free. Her time of 1:56.41 in the 200 free led the women's sweep of the event as Jenny Harms and Shawna Griffith took second and third. Owls also swept the 100 free with Murphy posting a 53.64 followed by Ashley Carlozzi and Nicole Samilo one second behind.
Freshman Lindsey Alexander won the 200 IM (2:10.40) and 200 back (2:12.08) to pace the women. David Parker (Boca Raton, FL) took the top spot in the 200 IM for the men in 1:59.40 and Jonathon Pinto gave FAU the sweep of the 200 back in 2:00.88. With a win in the 200 breast, Parker won his second event in 2:09.42. The Owls also took the top three spots in the 1000 free. In 10:27.24, Lauren Shue won the event followed by Yasmin Siggins (10:30.22) and Brittany Fabry (10:35.81). Christian Baker won the distance events for the Owls will times of 9:59.40 in the 1000 free and 4:50.51 in the 500 free. Other winners were Jennifer Forcht in the 200 fly (2:07.44), Kyle Myers in the 200 fly (1:58.58), Jenny Harms in the 500 free (5:10.40) and Ellie Weberg in the 200 breast (2:22.47) Nick McMahon picked up two wins for the men in the 1 and 3-meter diving events. The team will have off until Jan. 21 when it travels to Florida State. FAU is gearing up for the Sun Belt Championships Feb. 16 at the University of Denver. Men
