In the six-team fields at the New Year's Invitational, the Florida Atlantic University swimmers pulled off first and third place showings at the FAU pool. The Owls combined for 14 first-place finishes after sweeping the first five events.

To open the morning, the men and women took the 200-yard medley relays with times of 1:34.17 and 1:50.70, respectively. Geni Burts and Christian Baker followed the relays with top times in the 1000 free. Burts finished seven seconds ahead of her competitors in 10:26.88, while Baker swam a season-best 9:53.53.

Burts, a freshman from Pembroke Pines, FL, returned to win the 500 free in 5:07.44. Lisa Andersson also won two events for the women. She took the victory in the 100 and 200 free with times of 53.50 and 1:53.34.

The women would sweep the freestyle events as Boguslawa Bedyk swam a season-best 24.63 in the 50 free. The Lady Owls had three swimmers place in the top-four as Valeria Dalmastro and Krista Norkus touched the wall just behind Bedyk.

Emma Petersson and Kelly Pancake also earned first place finishes for the women in the 200 IM (2:09.84) and 100 back (1:00.71)
