Divers Sweep One-Meter Event

The Florida Atlantic University's swim teams kicked off the 2003 year by hosting the seven-team FAU Winter Invitational. Asheley Boland and Antwan Thomas guided the Owls to fourth place finishes when they won the one-meter diving events.

Boland and Thomas posted scores of 210.75 and 211.75 in one-meter diving to win the event. The duo also picked up points in three-meter diving with a third place (220.25) and second place (154.05), respectively.

The men's team had a strong showing. Scott Hobson led the field of 23 in the 200-yard backstroke when he touched the wall in 1:52.50. The Owls also mustered six-second place finishes. Robert Langsett finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.44) and 500-yard freestyle (4:47.20).

Pavel Babaev continues to gain respect in the 50-yard freestyle after he posted a time of 21.17 for a second place finish. Travis Howard took second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:06.97) and the 400-yard medley relay finished in 3:28.40 for the first points of the meet for the men.

Lisa Andersson took second in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 24.41 and 52.98 for the women.

FAU next hosts Indian River Community College on January 25th at FAU Pool in an exhibition meet.
