As a Freshman ('04-'05): Swam season-bests in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM at the conference championships and advanced to the finals in each event...he placed eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.38 in the prelims...he finished with times of 1:55.93 in the 200 fly and 1:58.80 in the 200 IM, breaking the two-minute mark for the first time in the season.

High School: Attended Lake Region High School where he was coached by Gene Moore...the 2003 Polk County Swimmer of the Year was an 11-time County Champion and 10-Time District Champion...in 2003 he placed fourth in the 100 fly at the Class 2A state meet...in 2002 he was a member of the 200 medley relay that finished second in Class 2A...member of the National Honor Society and was a student council officer throughout high school.
