Assistant Coach

Oliver Agh joined the Florida Atlantic University coaching staff in 2006 as an assistant coach. A former FAU swimmer and team captain in 1998-99, Agh has international experience that is beneficial to the program.

A native of Hungary, Agh was a member of the Hungarian National Swim Team from 1989-2000 and participated in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.

"As a former two-time Olympian and National Team member for Hungary, Agh brings a wealth of experience that should benefit our swimmers," said head coach Steve Eckelkamp. "As a former FAU swimmer and alum he will bring the kind of personal insights that will also help the swimmers adjust and excel at FAU."

Swimming accomplishments:
· Participated in the '92 (Barcelona, Spain) and '96 (Atlanta, GA) Olympic Games (finalist in the 200 Backstroke), 2 European Championships ('93 Sheffield, UK and '95 Wien, Austria) , `94 World Championships (Rome, Italy), 2 World University Games (`97 Sicily, Italy and `99 Palma de Mallorca, Spain)
· Member, Hungarian National Swim Team, 1989-2000, where he swam with 4 Olympic Champions under one of the world's most successful coaches, Tamás Széchy.
· Member of FAU's Swim Team, 1995-1999, coached by Steve Eckelkamp
· Member of the first team in FAU's history to represent the school in the NCAA Division 1 Championships (Austin, TX), where he swam the 200 Backstroke and 400 IM. The team put FAU on the map by finishing in the top 20.
· Captain of the Men's Team, 1998-1999
· 2 time MVP, Multiple Varsity Record Holder
· 8 time NIC Conference Champion, Multiple Conference Record Holder
·2006 Master's All-American with the fastest time in the 50m and 100m backstroke

After competing at FAU for four seasons, he graduated with a bachelor's of science in 2000. Agh continued his education and received his master of business administration in 2003. After working in the field of Marketing for a few years, he returned to swimming as a coach.

"I have known Oliver for over 10 years and am excited to have him as part of our program," said Eckelkamp. "He can definitely contribute to FAU's quest to reach the next level of excellence."

In the fall of 2007, Agh was inducted into the FAU Athletics Hall of Fame.
