Kent Wilson joined the FAU Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence staff as Associate Director and Coordinator of Athletic Support for Football in January 2008. Wilson is a former athlete whose varied professional and academic background helps him be successful at guiding student-athletes to achieve their goals of graduation.

Prior to his appointment, he served at the University of South Florida as Coordinator of Athletic Support for Football from February 2007 to January 2008. During that time he was able to help the team achieve the highest semester GPA in five years as well as raising the bottom quartile GPA by 18% in less than one year. In addition to his experience at USF, Wilson spent five years with the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's Play It Smart program. Play It Smart is a highly successful youth development program that emphasizes academics, leadership, life skills and community involvement for high school student-athletes. Some of Wilson's accomplishments while working with Play It Smart include Director of the Tampa NFL/NFF Coaching Academy. He was honored by the NFF Tampa Chapter in 2004 with the J. Crockett Farnell Contribution to Amateur Football Award; and he served as an active board member of the National Football Foundation Tampa Chapter.

In addition to his experience in youth development, Wilson had a brief career as a PGA Tour Player and taught in an adjunct capacity at the University of Central Florida, Valencia Community College and Eckerd College. He holds an MBA in International Finance from Rollins College and a BA degree in Management from Eckerd College.
