Katrina McCormack came to Florida Atlantic University in July of 1991 with the responsibility of a one person NCAA Division II department that handled all media relations activity for 14 sports. Since that time, FAU has moved to Division I, joined the Atlantic Sun Conference, then moved to the Sun Belt Conference, and has added three additional sports.
The Media Relations Office has also grown to encompass two other full-time staff members and two interns. While McCormack primarily works with football, she also writes for several on-campus magazines, oversees the implementation of the website, broadcast outlets and day-to-day functions of the department.
She has enjoyed working NCAA Championship events for volleyball, softball, baseball, the national men's soccer championship, women's basketball, men's basketball, including the round of 16, served as media coordinator for the Division I-AA Football Semi-Final Championship and most recently served as FAU's media liaison at two bowl games. McCormack also spent the summer of 1996 working at the Olympics.
Prior to coming to FAU, the Florida native, worked two years as the Sports Information Director for the Sunshine State Conference. Her first year working in the field of sports information was as a graduate assistant at Austin Peay State University, fulfilling a one-year mentorship requirement by the United States Sports Academy, where she obtained a master's degree.
McCormack's undergraduate work was at Florida Southern College, where she was a member of a nationally ranked softball team, a team that appeared in three NCAA Regionals and one World Series during her four-year tenure. She graduated in 1988 with a degree in communications.
McCormack resides in Boca Raton with her husband John and sons Conor and Shane.
