Yumi Kyo was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer at Florida Atlantic University in 2008. She serves as the Women's Basketball athletic trainer. She served as an intern from 2004 until 2005, and then as a graduate assistant from 2006 until 2007 at Florida Atlantic. From 2004-2008 Kyo worked primarily with Football and Men's and Women's Tennis.

Kyo graduated from Osaka Kun-Ei Women's College in Osaka, Japan with a degree in Nutrition in 2000. After moving to the United States, she earned a BS in Athletic Training from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2005, and completed her Masters Degree in Strength and Conditioning in 2008.

Kyo worked as an intern with NFL Europe in the Spring of 2006, and as an intern athletic trainer for Florida Atlantic in 2005. She also worked with First Rehab as a physical therapy aid while an undergraduate.

Kyo holds certifications through the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida, and the American Red Cross.
