Karen Kelly was hired by Florida Atlantic in August of 2007 as the Director of Compliance. She will assist in the day to day running of the Compliance office as well as working to educate coaches, administrators and student-athletes in regards to new rules and regulations.
Karen came to FAU from Temple University, where she received her masters in Sports Administration in 2007. She worked as a graduate extern for compliance from September of 2005. While there, she worked alongside the assistant athletic director of compliance as well as the compliance coordinator on matters involving the student athletes and coaches at Temple. She also handled a number of tasks within the compliance office, such as keeping track of official and unofficial recruiting visits, developing content and distributing the monthly compliance newsletter, and processing scholarship recommendations, national letter of intent's and financial aid agreements.
Prior to her work at Temple, the Long Island, NY native got her B.F.A. in communication arts from the New York Institute of Technology in 2004. While there, she was a two sport athlete being a member of the Women's Track and Field program earning All American Honors in 2003 as well as the Soccer team. She worked as a graduate assistant working with the athletic director and assistant athletic director on all areas of compliance, eligibility, and recruiting activity. She also headed the student athlete advisory committee.
