Reporting to the Dean for Undergraduate Education, Brown oversees the academic counseling and life skills staff, and serves as a liaison between the athletic and academic communities at FAU. Brown's objective is to ensure that every student-athlete has the resources and support structure in place to reach their educational goals.
Brown has been at FAU since 1997. Before taking her position with the SACAE in October 2002, she was an Assistant Director for Freshman Programs. Throughout her tenure at FAU, she has worked with students in many capacities focusing on their personal development and academic success.
The balance between academics and athletics has been a very important part of Brown's life.
Brown earned a full athletic scholarship in volleyball at West Virginia University and decided to become a Mountaineer. She had a successful Division I athletic career earning several awards including being named on the GTE Region-2 All-Conference Academic First Team and the Atlantic-10 All-Conference First Team. She graduated with honors in four years with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Foreign Languages.
Having earned the Atlantic-10 Post Graduate Scholarship and a graduate teaching position, she continued her education by earning a Master of Arts in Foreign Language from West Virginia University. In 1995, Brown married Jody Brown and returned to Boca Raton where her husband became the FAU Head Volleyball Coach. While working full-time at FAU, she earned her Doctorate in Education in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration.
Dr. Brown and Coach Brown have one son, Kaja.
