President Brogan speaks to the graduating seniors
President Named President Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee

June 6, 2008

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University President Frank T. Brogan has been named president of the Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee. The official appointment was announced at the league office following its annual spring meeting recently held in Sandestin, Florida.

In May, Brogan began the first year of his two-year term as president of the Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee. The committee is an eight-person team that provides oversight for the Sun Belt Conference through approval of conference-wide rules/legislation, the conference office budget and tournament championship sites, as well as other duties.

Because of the Sun Belt's status as a member of the Division I-A football coalition, the Sun Belt Conference has a permanent seat on the NCAA's 17-member Board of Directors. As a result, the conference has a crucial voice on some of the most pressing issues in college athletics and will have a role in the implementation of any future NCAA legislation and guidelines. Brogan began serving on the NCAA Board of Directors in 2007-2008 and will do so again in 2008-09.

Officers on the Sun Belt Executive Committee include: Vice President - Dr. Jack Hawkins, chancellor, Troy University; Past President - Dr. Sidney McPhee, president, Middle Tennessee State University; At-Large Representative - Dr. Gordon Moulton, president, University of South Alabama; Treasurer - Dr. Timothy Ryan, chancellor, University of New Orleans; Athletics Directors Representative - Peg Bradley-Doppes, University of Denver; Faculty Athletics Representative - Bill McKee, University of North Texas; Senior Woman Administrator's Representative - Pam Herriford, Western Kentucky University.
