What is the Owl Club?

The Owl Club is the official organization that supports Florida Atlantic University Athletics. Financial assistance from Owl Club members helps to build the University's athletic program, develop outstanding facilities and fund scholarships for our talented student athletes. More than 450 student athletes in 18 varsity sports benefit from Owl Club support each year. The Owl club provides members with opportunities to volunteer and participate in exclusive social and networking events. Owl Club members also receive priority points and a number of special benefits according to their level of participation.

Why do we need YOUR help?
Tuition Costs
As the cost of tuition at Florida Atlantic University increases each year, the Owl Club is called upon to provide additional dollars in support of student athlete scholarships. While tuition costs increase, your Owl Club membership becomes more important each year.

For example, if the total cost of scholarships for all varsity sports is $4 million per year and Florida Atlantic University increases tuition 10% this year... that's a $400,000 jump in the dollars necessary to provide scholarships for student athletes.

Where does that money come from? You guessed it. The Owl Club... people like you who care so deeply for the University and want to see FAU Athletics remain strong. The burden falls on us to provide ever increasing support.

Facility Enhancement
New and renovated facilities are vitally important for the quality of competition and the safety and performance of our current and future student athletes. Facility enhancements are essential if FAU Athletics is to be successful at the national level. It is important for us to continue providing the very best and give our coaches and student athletes a chance to be successful and your support is a vital piece of the success.

Season Ticket Revenue and Corporate Sponsorships Is Not Enough
At one time, not too long ago, many athletic departments earned enough revenue through ticket sales and sponsorships to finance the majority of their athletic program. For a variety of reasons, in this day and age, football and basketball ticket sales are not enough to support the total intercollegiate athletics program. Private support from alumni, friends and fans provides the necessary financial support to supplement the difference.

Athletics is the Window to the University
FAU Athletics is widely known and followed by alumni, friends and fans around the world. When FAU Athletics succeeds, much attention is focused on the University and the many outstanding programs it offers. FAU Athletics is a quality program and one that is worthy your support. FAU student athletes are active in the community, successful in the classroom and winners in competition. You can be proud to support the Owl Club and FAU Athletics. We need YOUR help and hope you will join the Owl Club today. If you are a member, we thank you, and hope you will help us find new members or make an additional pledge of added support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm not receiving Owl Club emails regarding upcoming events, games, etc. How can I correct this problem?
A: If you are not receiving these emails, take the following steps prior to contacting the development office:

1. Check to see if Owl Club emails are going into your junk mail or spam folder.
2. Add the Owl Club email address to your contact list.

If you are still not receiving emails after taking these steps, contact the Owl Club office to further troubleshoot this problem.

Q: I don't have internet access, how can I get more information about the Owl Club and FAU Athletics?

A: Call the athletics department at 1-866-FAU-OWLS and an Owl Club representative can send you an information packet and answer any questions you may have.

Q: Why are priority points important?

A: While an Owl Club membership is not required to purchase season tickets for any sport, members will be rewarded for their valuable contributions to our student-athletes through our priority point system. For example, priority points are an important factor in seating arrangements for football, post-season tournaments, and bowl games.

Q: How is football seating determined?

A: Seating is based upon a variety of factors, including level of contribution to the Owl Club, priority point totals and season ticket turnover. Seating is determined prior to the start of the football season.

Q: Is the priority seating utilized for sports other than football?

A: Yes, priority seating are utilized for men and women's basketball in two areas of the FAU Arena: chair back and courtside seating is available to Owl Club members who make the minimum contributions to qualify for such seating.

Q: What happens to my priority points at the end of the membership year?

A: Your priority points will remain unchanged until you renew your gift or purchase season tickets; at which time your point total will increase.

Q: Will a membership in the Owl Club guarantee football season tickets?

A. Based upon prior experience, we are confident that all Owl Club members who make their gifts prior to the deadlines will have an opportunity to purchase Owl Club priority seating for football

Q: Do I have to be a member of the Owl Club to purchase season tickets?

A: No. You can purchase season tickets outside of the priority seating sections without being a member of the Owl Club.

Q: Do I get points for donating to other areas of the University?

A: No. Although we appreciate your contributions to other areas on campus, you only receive points for contributions to the athletic department.

Q: Can I change the name on my account?

A: Yes. You can change the name on your account only to another family member. This can be done by sending a request via mail to the address listed above.

Q: I have been buying tickets under someone else's name for the past few years. How do I get these points?

A: Unfortunately you can not get these points. Your friend needs to send a letter to the address above stating specifically which seats are yours, give your name and address, and ask for the tickets to be moved into your account. After this is done, you will begin accumulating points.

Q: My spouse went to FAU. I did not attend FAU but our account is in my name. Can I get her points for being an alumni?

A: Yes, you can get her points. However, first you must add your spouse's name to your account. If both of your names are on the account, then you can get your spouse's alumni points.

Q: When are priority points calculated and updated each year?

A: Priority points are only calculated once a year on December 1st.

Q: If my company offers a matching gift program, will I receive points for the company's donation?

A: Yes. Points are calculated on your total giving including matching gifts.

Q: Do I get points for past giving?

A: Yes. Points are calculated based on your cumulative giving history.

Q: How do I maintain "active" priority points?

A: In order to have "active" points you must have made a contribution to the athletic department before December 1st of that year.

Q: How do I know how many points I have?

A: You will receive a letter indicating how many points you have accumulated December of each year. If you would like to check you point total at any time throughout the year, you may contact the Owl Club by calling 561-297-0408.

Q: May I designate my gift to a particular sport of booster club?

A: Yes, you may designate your gift for a specific sport as long as it is for their scholarship or operating accounts and is considered unrestricted.

Q: If I donate the minimum priority seat contribution, am I guaranteed to keep my seats? What if someone donates more and requests my seats?

A: You are guaranteed to maintain your seats as long as you continue to make the minimum annual priority seating contribution for that section regardless of any other requests.

Q: What can I do to improve/upgrade my seats in any future on-campus facility?

A: Improvements/upgrades will be assigned based on your total points. The more points you have the better your seats.

Q: Do I receive points for entry fees to fundraising events (golf tournaments, auction tickets etc...)?
