Kevin Cooney, FAU Seniors to be Honored This Weekend

Long-time Florida Atlantic University head baseball coach Kevin Cooney and ten of his out-going players will be honored in pre-game ceremonies this weekend at FAU Stadium as part of the Owls' three-game weekend series against Sun Belt Conference rivals Arkansas State University. Cooney, who is retiring following the 2008 season, is in the midst of his 17th winning season in 21 years as head coach.

Walk-Off Homerun Ends FAU's Sun Belt Tourney

The Florida Atlantic softball team fell to North Texas 4-3 on Thursday, ending FAU's hopes of repeating as Sun Belt Tournament Champions. The game was scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning when NT scored three runs on three hits and an error to take a 3-0 lead. FAU was down to its last out in the top of the seventh when Jessica Myers and Melissa Moore reached on back-to-back walks, following by a Rose Gressley base hit that loaded the bases. A Mean Green pitching change failed to change the momentum as a wild pitch allowed all the runners to move up and cut NT's lead to 3-1.

Track Team Prepares for Sun Belt Outdoors

The Florida Atlantic University track team will head to Denton, Texas for the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Friday, May 9 through Sunday, May 11 The Owls will head to the meet, hosted by the University of North Texas, with the intention of improving last year's eighth place finish. At last year's meet, FAU tallied nine top-10 finishes and had the 4x400 meter relay team register a regional qualifying time.
